Carrie Nielsen, MA of Clinical Psychology

Carrie's approach to movement therapy, including yoga and Pilates, is that of an act of self-care.  She practices and teaches a slow, flowing style of yoga that celebrates compassion, gratitude, and kindness, focusing on gentle movements, breath techniques, and meditation.  She often incorporating restorative practices into her classes.  In the increasingly hectic and fast-paced world wherein we make an endless number of decisions while running on auto-pilot, it is becoming increasingly easy to sacrifice awareness of our thoughts, feelings, and behavior.  Through the practice of yoga, we offer to ourselves the gift of slowing down and reconnecting to the rhythms of our breath, body, and mind.  In so doing, we sharpen our awareness, replenish our energy stores, and renew intentions to invite joy and ease into our lives.

When not on the mat, Carrie takes pleasure in the laid back pace of life in Chatham.  She enjoys dancing, sailing, engaging in new learning activities, and spending time with her family and friends of both the two- and four-legged varieties.
