Frequently Asked Questions

What Is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a natural method of health care that focuses on correcting the causes of a multitude of health problems rather than just treating the symptoms.

Your spine is the lifeline of your nervous system. It controls all the feeling, movement and functions of your body. Your spine is composed of 24 vertebrae that protect your nervous system. If any of these vertebrae become "misaligned" then the messages that travel from your brain through your nervous system can become disrupted.

Accidents, falls, uneven stress, tension, over-exertion, or other factors can cause "misalignment" of the vertebrae.

What Do Chiropractors Do?

Chiropractors specialize in assessing skeletal and neuo-muscular irregularies and reducing their impact to the nervous system. This is achieved through the chiropractic adjustment.

What Is A Chiropractic Adjustment?

A chiropractic adjustment is the art of using a specific force in a precise direction, applied to a joint that is fixated or not moving properly. This adds motion to the joint, helping the bones gradually return to a more normal position and motion. The result is improved spinal function, improved nervous system function, and improved health.

Dr. Bradshaw uses a variety of chiropractic techniques to achieve the chiropractic adjustment, such as Diversified, Thompson Drop, Sacro-occipital, Activator, and Flexion/distraction.

How does a combination chiropractic and massage visit work?

When massage is covered by your insurance, we are bound by the rules and regulations of your insurance policy that dictates how many therapy "units" (15 minutes=one unit) you can receive in a given office visit.  Most patients receive a 60 minute massage* and their chiropractic adjustment afterward.   This combination is billed to the insurance company as one visit, therefore you are only responsible for one co-payment.

*All massage sessions include the therapist's time for history intake and post massage out-take.

What should I expect from my massage at Back Solutions?

In our office Massage Therapy is treated as a physiotherapy modality that is physician monitored. It is focused and directed at treating your specific condition(s).This type of massage should not be confused with "spa" massage and is most often not full body. The intention of this type of massage is to improve function, increase muscle and fascial stability, decrease pain, and assist in the progression of your condition.

What it Acutonics®?

Everything in the universe is in motion. Solid matter may not appear to be moving, but at the level of molecules and atoms, it is vibrating.  Every type of matter, and every living thing, vibrates.  The frequency of vibration is a characteristic of the type of matter, tissue or cell type under consideration. When all parts of a living being vibrate at frequencies that are in harmony with the whole organism and its environment, the organism thrives. On the other hand, when those vibrations are weak or in disharmony with the environment or the whole organism, the integrity of the organism begins to deteriorate.

Acutonics® tuning forks can be used to generate healthy, supportive vibrations within the body. The frequencies imparted by the tuning forks are related to the frequencies generated by the earth, the other planets, the sun and the moon. Those frequencies are ones that our bodies are naturally in tune with, at least when everything is in balance.  The Acutonics® approach can be used for many purposes, such as:

·        To assess the condition of tissues or regions of the body

·        To cause tense muscles to “let go”

·        To promote deep relaxation

·        To stimulate the movement of chi (life force energy)

·        To support the healthy release of bound-up emotions

·        To increase energy when you feel “run down”

·        To enhance spiritual creativity or awareness

·        To enhance yin or yang qualities in a specific area

      ·        To release scar tissue

What is Reiki?

Reiki translates from Japanese to mean "univeral life energy".  Reiki is a simple, hands-on method of healing the body, mind and spirit.  Reiki is the art and science of activating and applying natural, universal life energy to promote wholeness and healing.  Reiki heals on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels.  It affects causes, not symptoms and works under any circumstance as long as the person receiving Reiki is a willing participant.

What is KinesioTaping?

Cornerstones of the Kinesio® Taping Method:

•    Taping over and around muscles in order to assist and give support or to prevent over-contraction.

•    Applying stretch to the tape or to the target area in order to create space under the skin and create the desired effect on the musculature.

•    Affecting change in deeper layers of fascia by manipulating the skin and muscle.

•    Creating space underneath the skin to improve circulation and lymphatic drainage.

•    Utilizing a number of corrective techniques to promote correct muscle and joint function

•    Pain relief by targeting the pain and the source of the pain

•    Utilizing single “I” strips or modifications in the shape of an “X,” “Y” or other specialized shapes

•    Applying base of tape with no tension to create pull towards the base
