Yoga Calendar for February and March 2010

Yoga Foundations: Beginner series - Saturday, 10am
This series offers a balanced approach to learning yoga basics. Both active (yang) and passive (yin) poses will be explored. In this 4-week series the student will learn:
- how to protect the muscles and joints during asana and vinyasa
- the benefits of practicing Yin as well as Yang yoga
- how to achieve maximum benefit from a yoga practice
- simple breath control techniques
Yoga for Healthy Joints - Saturday, 11:30am
Yoga for Healthy Joints series safely stretches the connective tissues. This form of yoga -- sometimes called 'Yin Yoga' -- uses gravity to gently pull, stretch and soften the connective tissues. When practiced regularly, it can gradually increases range of motion in restricted joints. Poses are passive
(meaning muscles are relaxed) and are held for 3-5 minutes. In this 4-week series the student will learn:
- the basic elements for safely practicing yoga asanas (poses) in Yin style
- the benefits of practicing Yin as well as Yang (dynamic or flow) yoga
- how to achieve maximum benefit from a yoga practice
- simple breath control techniques
"X" indicates that class will not be held that day due to a holiday.
